PyroLite E-Z Fill Adhesive - Recently Re-stocked
We have found this all purpose refactory joint and patch compound works wonders when used in a kiln lid to secure elements that maybe protruding or falling out of the grooves designed to hold them in place. Works on both ceramic brick as well as fiber kiln lids, and one does not have to worry about getting this compound on the elements themselves. Has a low shrinkage, high strength, and excellent abrasion and thermal shock resistance. Basically, it's "Magic" in a tube...
Available in a 10.3 oz. tube, Pyrolite E-Z FILL is a high temperature joint and repair product for use where direct molten metal contact is not required.
Notes from the Manufacturer of Pyrolite:
Surfaces to be bonded must be clean and free of loose particles, dust and release coating. Curing takes place through normal air drying. Low temperature heat (up to 200°F or 95°C) can be used to accelerate the process, if necessary. This can be accomplished using a hot air blower or low velocity flame.
The product should be stored between 40°F (4°C) and 90°F (32°C). Under these conditions, the normal shelf life is one year. In temperature and humidity controlled storage, a shelf life of two + years may be expected. It can be used in environments up to 2300°F or 1260°C.
*A handy note about Pyrolite! This product is used by many kiln owners to patch rigidized fiber shelves and cracks in fiber walls of kilns. Here's what to do: Smear on the product, use a squeegee or credit card to smooth it onto the surface, allow to become bone dry, and then lightly sand to the desired smoothness using finer and finer grits of sand paper. This product is an allowable substrate for kilnwash, so the kilnwash will not pool where the Pyrolite is applied.
