USING BULLSEYE KILN WASH

MIXING: Mix one part powder to 4-5 parts (by volume) water.  Distilled water is best
if you have iron in your water.  A pound of dry shelf primer will make enough mix to
coat about 32 shelves 20" x 20" with five coats per shelf.

APPLICATION: Use at least 5 coats of wash on a new shelf or mold, 4 or more coats on subsequent applications.  Apply with a Chinese hake brush for best results.

Brush in one direction and then at 90 degrees, and then diagonally, applying as evenly
as possible.  After the final coat you can speed the drying process by heating your
kiln shelf or mold to 500 degrees for 20 minutes.

The tint in Bullseye kiln wash indicates that it has not been fired.  On firing the dye
burns out.  If you have not fired over 1300 degrees F, you can reuse shelves and
molds many times.  Firing to a full fuse (1500 degrees F) will require recoating.
Scrape off the old primer with a sharp scraper to minimize dust.  Then you can remove
any other remnants using Fabricut (as listed above).

PRECAUTIONS: Shelves which appear dry to the touch may still hold moisture.  Damp
shelves can result in bubbles, glass sticking and breakage.  Unless the shelf has been
kiln dried, you can not be sure that it is thoroughly dry.

Avoid breathing the dust during cleaning.  Wear a respirator, which is approved by
NIOSH for dusts and clean your shelves outdoors or with a good ventilation system.

STORAGE: Store the powder in a dry, cool place. Keep bags and containers sealed
tightly.
