BACKORDER POLICY CHANGES
As General Manager
of A&A Products Ltd., I have always believed that you, the customer,
have the right to know why
we make certain decisions that affect you. So here is how we
are changing our backorder
policy and why.
In order to maintain the
best prices possible for you the customer, we have to watch for
distributor sales and specials
and buy at the lowest costs. In order to purchase products
at good prices, it is necessary
that we be ready with sufficient cash-on-hand to purchase
immediately when distributors
are having discounts. Cash flow is very important to our
keeping prices as low as possible.
In the past, we have held
entire orders, for as long as a month, until one final piece of glass
or tool was received that had
been on backorder. That meant that we had orders ready to
go that could have given us
an immediate cash flow of thousands of dollars, but because we
were holding them, the money
was not avalable for new purchases. We obviously couldn't
sell the products to other
customers, because we were holding them for a particular customer.
We had thousands of dollars
tied up in backorders sitting on our shelves waiting for a few
items to be received.
It was a big cash drain.
We must change that backorder
policy. We will still allow backorders, but we must ship what
we have in stock at the
time you order. If you wish to backorder items, we will ship them
when
they are received. This
means you will have to pay shipping on the backordered items.
While this will add some
expense to you, it does not mean you are paying twice the shipping
cost. Since shipping
costs depend on weight, the first order would have cost you more if the
additional items had been included.
Also, in the case of glass, we will not charge you an
additional glass packing charge
on backorders. This means that shipping will be less for backorders.
We realize that you have
the right of not backordering and trying to locate the item from another
store. Obviously, this
will still add additional shipping - and may cost more, depending the the
store location and their shipping
policy. So here's the policy.
As of February 1, 2006,
any items that are being held in our store awaiting backorders, will be
shipped without them. Also
any future orders will be shipped when ordered and you must specify
whether you want items backordered
and shipped later. We will call customers when backordered
items exceed $50.00 to insure
you still want us to ship them. Smaller backorders will be shipped
automatically when they arrive
in stock.
We apologize for any inconvenience
this may cause, but we can no longer sit on thousands of
dollars of backorders. With
this additional cash flow, we hope to continue to provide you the
best prices along with the
best service.
